Activities Program - Spring Sprout Sale!
The Activities Program
is an in-house program that helps our retired client employees
continue to enjoy a higher quality of To welcome spring this year the members of the Activity Program will be growing and selling vegetable starts. The plants are expected to be ready for pick up in late April or early May. You can select Beef Stake Tomatoes, Roma Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Summer Squash, or Zucchini Squash. The clients will also be making garden stepping stones embossed with flowers, hand painted cement birds which will also be for sale. Later in the spring (around Mothers Day) they will be putting together flower boxes (color spots) as they did last year. You can reserve your plants by contacting Debbie at 503.390.7355. This project gives our clients an opportunity to grow and nurture plants and gain new skills. Money raised from this project will go toward a special activity for the Client Employees in the Activities Group. If you are stopping by our office, please review our display in the lobby. NEW DIRECTIONS Rockwest is always looking in new directions for products and services to better serve you! Pet Crate Cuddler Upgrade. Rockwest is currently testing an updated version of the Pet Crate Cuddler. The pad now being sold has micro-fleece on one side with rip-stop nylon on the other side. While this makes a very durable pad that is easy to maintain, we think we can do better. The pad being tested at a local kennel is reversible, with rip-stop nylon on one side and a leather like material on the other side. This will make the pad even more durable, comfortable for the pet, and remain easy to clean. For questions concerning this product please contact Craig at 503.390.7355. Wilderness First Aid Manual In addition to the standard first aid booklet currently offered by Rockwest, we will be offering "The Wilderness First Aid Manual", a reference guide to backcountry first aid by William W. Forgey, M.D. This informative guide was written in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Wilderness Medical Society and is small enough to fit comfortably into a pocket or backpack. It is a welcome addition to any Emergency Preparedness Kit and useful for campers, hikers, and professionals working in the field. This item will be made available in the very near future.

unique, caring, and hard working individuals. Thank you for supporting
adults with physical in intellectual disabilities. The party was held on December 18th at Rockwest Training and each client received a gift from the Jolly Old Elf himself. There was music, dancing, food, treats, and games for everyone. You can view photographs of the event by clicking on Client Corner - Movies & Slideshows. Work Floor. Jobs completed during February consisted of cutting and rolling insulation, and a 3 piece assembly project. For training we received classes in safety, and letter and number recognition. Tracy L. was elected runner-up for employee of the month. David H. and John H. both celebrated birthdays during the month of January. Activities Program. It was a very busy period for the Activities Program. We went bowling, did a treasure hunt at Goodwill, had a birthday party, and made pretzels. For arts & crafts we made paper plate snowmen, pipe cleaner animals, rocket ship mobiles, and had a cupcake decorating contest. Custom Embroidery and Screen Printing. Completed work on 5 different projects for the Kroc Center, worked on a custom jacket for Sunset Mini Truck Club, and created a sample for the Dept of Forestry. Participated in First Aid Training. Industrial Sewing. Jobs completed during the month of February include using patterns to cut material, cutting webbing and sealing the ends, sewing velcro fasteners, and assisting the work floor with applying product labels. For training we participated in a fire and an earthquake drill. For arts & crafts we made shamrocks, hearts, and one client worked on a model car. Rockwest Purchases New Bus
